Will Apollo Tyres Break The Curse Of Team India Sponsors? Bold ₹579 Cr Deal Signals Big Ambitions & Bigger Risks

**Apollo Tyres Becomes New Jersey Sponsor of Indian Cricket Team in Rs 579 Crore Deal**

*New Delhi:* Apollo Tyres has emerged as the new jersey sponsor of the Indian cricket team, securing a lucrative contract with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) worth Rs 579 crore for approximately two and a half years. This deal significantly surpasses the previous sponsorship agreement with Dream11, which was valued at Rs 358 crore.

The comprehensive agreement covers jerseys for both the men’s and women’s cricket teams and spans a total of 142 matches. These include 121 bilateral games as well as 21 International Cricket Council (ICC) matches.

**Apollo Tyres Unfazed by Past Sponsor Challenges**

In an exclusive interview with CNBC-TV18, Apollo Tyres Vice-Chairman and Managing Director Neeraj Kanwar expressed confidence despite the setbacks experienced by previous sponsors such as Sahara, BYJU’S, and Dream11.

He remarked, “Apollo was started by my father in 1976, and we have built it on a strong foundation.” Kanwar emphasized that Apollo is more than a tyre company—it’s a brand embodying the spirit of India.

“We’ve played an important role in improving India’s connectivity, and we’re here to stay for the long run,” he added.

**A Strong Partnership Between Two Trusted Institutions**

Discussing the new sponsorship deal, Kanwar highlighted that this collaboration is not merely about sponsorship, but a partnership between two trusted institutions: Apollo and Team India.

He noted the natural connection between the two brands and expressed confidence that the investment will generate long-term value—not just in terms of brand visibility but also in emotionally connecting with Indian cricket fans.

**Why Dream11 Pulled Out**

The recent pullout of Dream11 as the team’s sponsor was influenced by government-imposed restrictions on real-money gaming platforms. Following these regulations, Dream11 decided to exit the sponsorship arrangement.

As a result, during the ongoing Asia Cup, the Indian cricket team has been seen playing without any sponsor logo on their jerseys.

Apollo Tyres’ sponsorship marks a new chapter for Indian cricket, symbolizing a partnership rooted in heritage, trust, and a shared passion for the game. Fans and stakeholders alike will be watching closely to see how this collaboration unfolds on and off the field.
