Rounding out our salute to Neil Young this week on his 80th birthday, today’s Weirdo Wednesday takes a look at the whacked-out original version of “Hey Hey, My My” performed in studio with Devo back in 1978.

This unique recording was made during the production of the delightfully bizarre cult film *Human Highway*, which was eventually released in 1982. The song was later played by Crazy Horse and included on the classic *Rust Never Sleeps* album in 1979, cementing its place in music history.

But this beautifully batshit original performance of the song with Devo is 100% certified Weirdo Wednesday hall-of-fame material. It’s a fittingly fun choice to celebrate Neil on his milestone birthday today.
