Watch the Moment a Massive Avalanche Breaks Free from Annapurna I

On October 26, trekkers and guides at the North Annapurna Base Camp witnessed a breathtaking and terrifying natural event. A massive avalanche suddenly broke free from the steep face of Annapurna I, one of the world’s highest and most formidable peaks.

The avalanche had been perched around 4,100 metres up on the mountain’s northern side in Nepal’s Myagdi District. In an instant, the wall of snow tore loose and began its rapid descent toward the base camp below.

Within seconds, the white cascade gathered speed, transforming into a colossal cloud of snow and ice hurtling toward the camp. One witness described the spectacle as “like watching a storm fall from the sky.”

As the avalanche reached the base camp, visibility dropped to zero, and the entire area was quickly swallowed by the immense cloud of snow. The event left trekkers and guides in disbelief at the sheer power and scale of nature’s forces on Annapurna I.
