Warriors Make Major Steph Curry Decision Before Nuggets Game
The Golden State Warriors were extremely shorthanded on Wednesday night against the Sacramento Kings, ultimately dropping the game 121-116. This loss brought their record to 5-4 this season heading into Friday’s NBA Cup matchup with the Denver Nuggets.
Golden State was missing several key players, including Stephen Curry, who is dealing with an illness; Jimmy Butler, sidelined with a lower back strain; and Draymond Green, out with a right rib contusion.
Looking ahead to their game against Denver, the Warriors have already made a key decision regarding Curry’s status. He has been officially ruled out due to the illness that has lingered for several days. Curry appeared clearly unwell during his postgame press conference on Tuesday following Golden State’s win over the Phoenix Suns.
According to ESPN’s Anthony Slater, Curry’s symptoms worsened on Wednesday, leading to him being held out for a second straight game.
As of now, Green is probable to return on Friday, while Butler remains questionable.
In their absence on Wednesday, the Warriors received a huge boost from Moses Moody, who recorded 28 points, four blocks, three rebounds, and three assists. Will Richardson led all scorers with 30 points.
Curry, 37, is in his 17th NBA season and is averaging 26.8 points, 4.3 assists, and 3.6 rebounds in 31.1 minutes per game. At this stage of the season, there’s no reason to force him through anything unnecessary. Keeping him healthy and available down the stretch will be vital to the Warriors’ success.
