‘Tuner’: Black Bear Takes U.S. To Dustin Hoffman & Leo Woodall Romantic Thriller

EXCLUSIVE: Black Bear Acquires U.S. Rights to Romantic Thriller *Tuner*
Black Bear is set to release its second theatrical title with *Tuner*, which recently made its world premiere at the Telluride Film Festival to critical acclaim, boasting a 95% fresh score on Rotten Tomatoes.
Directed by Daniel Roher, the Oscar-winning filmmaker behind *Navalny*, *Tuner* marks his narrative feature debut. The film stars Leo Woodall of *The White Lotus* in a singular performance, supported by notable actors including two-time Oscar winner Dustin Hoffman, Havana Rose Liu, Lior Raz, Tovah Feldshuh, and Jean Reno.
In *Tuner*, Woodall portrays Niki, a gifted piano tuner with a unique auditory condition. He soon discovers that his exceptional hearing can be harnessed to crack safes, a revelation that turns his life upside down. Havana Rose Liu plays Ruthie, a driven piano composition student who introduces Niki to new possibilities beyond his world.
The U.S. distribution deal was negotiated with UTA Independent Film Group and WME Independent. Black Bear holds the international rights to the film and also financed *Tuner* in partnership with English Breakfast and Elevation Pictures. Elevation Pictures will handle the Canadian release, while Black Bear will distribute the film in the UK and Ireland.
*Tuner* follows Black Bear’s recent domestic acquisition of *Christy*, a Sydney Sweeney-starring film that premiered at the Toronto Film Festival. The financier-turned-distributor picked up *Christy* at TIFF and plans a theatrical release for November 7.
With *Tuner*, Black Bear continues to expand its slate of compelling narrative films for both the domestic and international markets.
