Thane Police Prohibit Use of Plasma Beam Lights During Navratri Celebrations

The Thane Police have issued a directive prohibiting the use of plasma beam lights and beam lights during Navratri cultural programs, including Garba dances and the immersion processions of goddess idols. This year, the festival will be celebrated from September 22 to October 2.

Health and Safety Concerns

According to the police, such bright beam lights may pose health risks, particularly to children and the elderly participating in the processions. Additionally, these intense lights can distract drivers, increasing the risk of accidents on the roads.

Strict Action Against Violators

Authorities have warned that strict action will be taken against anyone found using prohibited lights during Garba events or immersion processions. Citizens are encouraged to report any violations by calling the toll-free numbers 100, 102, or 9137663839.

Navratri Celebrations in Thane

This year, a total of 3,862 goddess idols have been installed across Thane. Of these, 608 are Sarvajanik (public) idols, while 3,254 are household idols. Garba programs are being hosted at approximately 500 private venues and 590 public venues.

In addition to Garba dances, other cultural events such as bhajans and Ravan Dahan will also be organized throughout the festival period.

Security Arrangements in Place

The Thane Police have implemented extensive security measures to maintain law and order during the festivities. Officers in plain clothes, including a significant number of women police personnel, have been deployed at Garba venues to prevent incidents related to molestation, harassment, chain-snatching, theft, or any acts that might hurt religious sentiments.

Monitoring Online Activities
