Swiss Watch Exports Plunge on Weak China Demand, US Tariffs

Swiss Watch Exports Plunge in August Amid Weak Chinese Demand and US Tariffs
Swiss watch exports experienced a significant decline in August, as ongoing weak demand from China combined with the impact of stiff US tariffs. According to a statement released Thursday by the Federation of the Swiss Watch Industry, exports fell approximately 17% compared to the same period last year.
All major markets recorded double-digit declines. China, a key market, saw exports drop by 36%, while the United States—the largest market for Swiss watches—experienced a 24% decrease. These figures highlight the challenging environment facing the Swiss watch industry amid shifting global trade dynamics and consumer trends.
