Stolen vehicle report in Westover quickly leads to fugitive arrest
**Westover Police Apprehend Fugitive in Stolen Vehicle Case Within 30 Minutes**
On Tuesday afternoon, local law enforcement officials in Westover demonstrated swift action by tracking down a stolen vehicle and apprehending the wanted fugitive responsible for the theft in under 30 minutes.
According to a press release from Westover Police Chief Scott Carl, officers responded to the WestRidge Exxon station at 3:47 p.m. following a 911 call reporting a vehicle theft. The report indicated an unidentified male had arrived at the gas station in a white Hyundai, which was later confirmed to be stolen from Carmichaels, Pennsylvania.
The suspect exited the Hyundai, then quickly entered a Chevy Tahoe and drove away from the scene. The Granville Police Department located the Tahoe unoccupied shortly afterward in the University Town Centre Walmart parking lot.
Thanks to Walmart personnel, who provided surveillance footage showing the suspect leaving the vehicle, officers received both a physical description and direction of travel. This information proved critical in locating the suspect.
The individual, identified as John Christopher Sullivan of Carmichaels, was found to be a fugitive from justice in Pennsylvania in connection to the stolen white Hyundai. Sullivan was charged by the Westover Police Department with Grand Larceny, Transferring Stolen Goods, and Fugitive From Justice. He was arraigned and issued a $20,000 bond.
The Westover Police Department expressed gratitude to the Granville Police Department, the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Department, and the West Virginia State Police for their instrumental support, highlighting that the entire apprehension process took place within 30 minutes of the initial 911 call.
