Soybeans End Thursday on the Higher Side
Soybeans rounded out Thursday trade with contracts fractionally higher by 3 ¼ cents, led by the front months. The cmdtyView national average cash bean price increased by 3 ½ cents to reach $9.36 ¼.
Soymeal futures closed down $1.10 at $310, while soybean oil futures were 24 to 45 points higher.
In international news, Argentina’s suspension of export taxes was lifted overnight after the country hit its $7 billion export target within just the first few days. Meanwhile, a spokesperson from China’s Ministry of Commerce urged the U.S. to eliminate unreasonable tariffs when asked about the lack of soybean purchases from the U.S. overnight.
President Trump mentioned plans to provide aid to producers using tariff revenue, although no specific details were given.
**Export Sales Data**
Export sales data released this morning showed 724,459 metric tons (MT) of 2025/26 soybean sales for the week ending September 18. This represents a decline of 21.5% from the previous week and is only half of the volume sold during the same week last year, as China remains quiet.
The largest purchases included:
– Egypt: 166,200 MT
– Taiwan: 115,300 MT
– Mexico: 85,900 MT
Soymeal sales totaled 226,164 MT, which is on the lower side of estimates ranging between 150,000 and 450,000 MT. Of this total, 79,613 MT was for the current marketing year (MY), and 146,551 MT was for 2025/26.
Soybean oil sales amounted to 29,922 MT, placing them on the higher end of estimates that ranged from net reductions of 10,000 MT to sales of 30,000 MT. The current MY showed a net reduction of 23,296 MT, while 2025/26 sales were 53,218 MT.
