Southeastern Louisiana beats East Texas A&M 59-14 for 5th win in a row
HAMMOND, La. (AP) — Carson Camp threw two touchdown passes, Dkhai Joseph returned a punt 63 yards for a score and added a 32-yard touchdown reception, leading Southeastern Louisiana to a dominant 59-14 victory over East Texas A&M on Saturday night. The win marked Southeastern Louisiana’s fifth straight triumph.
Southeastern Louisiana (7-2, 5-0 Southland Conference), ranked No. 16 in the FCS coaches poll, has remained unbeaten since a 56-10 loss to then-No. 3 LSU on September 20.
Jaylon Domingeaux was a standout for SLU, hauling in four receptions for 157 yards and two touchdowns. Calvin Smith Jr. contributed two rushing touchdowns, while Deantre Jackson scored on a 1-yard run. Kyree Paul’s 27-yard touchdown run in the closing minutes capped the scoring.
The game’s scoring opened seven minutes in when Camp connected on a deep pass down the middle to Domingeaux for an impressive 82-yard touchdown. Following East Texas A&M’s three-and-out on their next possession, Joseph caught a punt at the 37-yard line and sped untouched to the end zone, extending the lead to 14-0 less than two minutes later.
Camp completed 11 of 18 passes for 226 yards. Kyle Lowe, who shares quarterback duties with Camp, completed 9 of 11 passes for 85 yards, including an 8-yard touchdown pass to Domingeaux that made the score 42-0 early in the third quarter.
For East Texas A&M (2-7, 2-3), KJ Shankle ran for a 3-yard touchdown in the third quarter, and Will Madonna threw an 81-yard touchdown pass to Tyler Daniels with 1:48 remaining to cap their scoring.
