**Jabalpur Police Issue Guidelines for Social Media Influencers to Promote Responsible Online Behavior**

Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh): In an effort to ensure responsible use of social media platforms, the Jabalpur police recently issued a series of instructions to local social media influencers. The meeting, held at the Police Control Room, was attended by around 60 influencers and addressed by Additional Superintendent of Police (City) Ayush Gupta and Additional Superintendent of Police (Rural) Suryakant Sharma.

During the session, the officers emphasized the importance of refraining from broadcasting or forwarding misleading or false news and information on social media. They reminded attendees that spreading such rumors or forwarding misleading audio and videos is a cognizable offence, punishable under the Bombay Nakabandi Act (BNS) and the Information Technology (IT) Act.

The police highlighted the crucial role social media influencers can play in educating residents about the proper use of new flyovers in the city. Despite separate entry and exit points, many people use the wrong side, increasing the risk of accidents. Influencers are encouraged to share information about traffic rules, create awareness, and discourage practices such as haphazard parking, obstructing traffic, and taking U-turns anywhere on the road.

Respect for religious sentiments was another key point discussed. Influencers were urged to share dignified content related to religious events and avoid posts, audios, or videos that could hurt religious or communal feelings.

The police also warned against posting obscene or vulgar content aimed solely at garnering views. Displaying weapons on social media is illegal under the Arms Act and can lead to legal action. Influencers were cautioned to refrain from uploading videos showing stunts in public places, group celebrations on roads, cutting cakes, dancing, or any such activities that could attract penalties under various sections of the BNS Act.

Additionally, the police instructed social media users to avoid posting videos of rallies or public gatherings on roads, as organizing vehicle rallies without valid permission is prohibited.

All major social media platforms, including WhatsApp, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube, remain under constant surveillance by the Jabalpur Cyber Cell team to enforce these guidelines and ensure community safety.

The Jabalpur police’s proactive approach aims to foster a safer and more responsible digital environment, calling upon social media influencers to lead by example in promoting lawfulness and social harmony.
