Social Media Influencers To Take Precautions While Posting In MP’s Jabalpur
**Jabalpur Police Issues Guidelines to Social Media Influencers for Responsible Usage**
Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh): In a recent initiative to promote responsible social media usage, the Jabalpur police issued a series of instructions to local social media influencers. Around 60 influencers attended the meeting held at the police control room, which was addressed by Additional Superintendent of Police (City) Ayush Gupta and Additional Superintendent of Police (Rural) Suryakant Sharma.
The officers emphasized the importance of not broadcasting or forwarding any misleading or false news on social media platforms. They reminded the attendees that spreading rumors or misinformation is a cognizable offence, and punitive action can be taken under the Bombay Police Act (BNS) and Information Technology (IT) Act against those involved in circulating such content, including audio and videos.
Social media influencers were urged to play a crucial role in educating residents about the proper use of new flyovers in the city. Despite separate entry and exit points, many people use the wrong side, increasing the risk of accidents. Influencers can help raise awareness by sharing accurate information about traffic rules and encouraging adherence to them.
The police also highlighted common traffic issues such as haphazard vehicle parking obstructing traffic flow and unauthorized U-turns on roads. Influencers were encouraged to spread awareness to help mitigate these problems and improve overall road safety.
Respecting religious sentiments was another key point discussed. Influencers were asked to share dignified content related to religious events and avoid posts, audio, or videos that could hurt anyone’s religious or communal feelings.
Further, the police cautioned against sharing obscene or vulgar content, which is often created for garnering views on social media. Such posts are discouraged, and influencers were advised to maintain decorum.
Display of weapons on social media was strictly prohibited. The authorities warned that displaying weapons is illegal under the Arms Act, and those found violating these rules may face legal action.
Additionally, influencers were advised to avoid uploading videos of stunts performed in public places, group celebrations on roads, cutting cakes, dancing, or similar activities that could lead to legal consequences under various sections of the BNS.
The police also stressed that posting videos of rallies or roaming on roads to gain views should be avoided, as vehicle rallies without valid permission are prohibited.
All social media platforms such as WhatsApp, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube remain under constant surveillance by the Jabalpur Cyber Cell team to ensure compliance with these guidelines.
By following these directives, social media influencers can contribute positively toward community safety, harmony, and lawful use of digital platforms.
