In August of last year, Tim Baker, who was three years past his tenure as head of IEX Cloud, teamed up with Pedro Aguayo, his former colleague from the exchange-owned data marketplace, to submit a last-minute bid for the platform’s assets before IEX shut it down. With the support of a silent partner, the trio successfully closed the deal just 48 hours before the offering expired.

At the time, Baker told WatersTechnology that, barring a name change, he intended to proceed with their plans for the platform.
