Samaritan’s Purse sends major airlift of aid to Gaza out of Greensboro
Samaritan’s Purse is sending a major airlift of food and relief supplies to Gaza. The plane departed at 9 a.m. Friday from their airlift response center in Greensboro. According to a press release, the Boone-based international Christian relief organization is sending these supplies to families who continue to suffer two years after the start of the Israel-Hamas war.
This flight will deliver more than 290,000 packets of vitamin-rich, peanut-based supplementary food for women and children. It will also bring 12,000 blankets, 12,000 solar lights, and other essential relief items to the area.
The organization’s disaster response specialists are already on the ground in the Middle East, working to bring help to families in Gaza. Some are returning to the city for the first time since the war started, thanks to a recent ceasefire agreement.
“Hamas not only held 251 innocent people hostage from Israel, but they also held the entire population of Gaza hostage for more than 15 years,” stated Franklin Graham in the press release. “They executed anyone who spoke out against them, as we witnessed on the streets of Gaza last week. We pray this flight will bring relief to people who are suffering.”
Samaritan’s Purse began working in Israel and Gaza immediately after the conflict broke out two years ago. Since then, the organization has delivered more than 223 tons of supplementary food and distributed over one million food rations. Its medical teams have also treated more than 1,700 patients.
In addition to those relief efforts in Gaza, the organization is also assisting communities in Israel. Samaritan’s Purse will provide 42 ambulances—28 of which are armored—for Israel’s emergency services provider.
