**Punjab Flood Damage Report Submitted; Loss Estimated at ₹12,905 Crore**

The Punjab government has submitted a revised report estimating the damage caused by the recent floods at ₹12,905 crore. This updated figure is ₹384 crore less than the previous estimate of ₹13,289 crore.

The comprehensive report covers destruction across 14 departments as well as agriculture. It will be forwarded to the Union Home Ministry after receiving approval from Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.

### Damage Reassessment: Department-Wise Highlights

**Rural Development and Panchayat Department**
The damage estimate has been significantly reduced from ₹5,043 crore to ₹3,554 crore in this sector.

**Revenue Department**
In contrast, the Revenue Department’s damage claim has increased from ₹1,858 crore to ₹2,782 crore, reflecting losses linked to damaged homes and crop destruction.

**Education Sector**
Structural damage repair costs have slightly risen to ₹547 crore from the earlier ₹542 crore estimate.

### Health and Livestock Losses

**Health Department**
The department has requested ₹780 crore for repairing damaged dispensaries, hospitals, and medical equipment.

**Animal Husbandry Department**
Losses include 1,371 buffaloes and milch cows, along with 1.75 lakh poultry. Compensation sought for these losses amounts to ₹129 crore.

**Public Works Department**
This department has demanded ₹1,970 crore for restoring 4,657.83 kilometers of roads and bridges affected by the floods.

### Agricultural and Other Key Department Claims

**Water Resources Department**
In response to damage caused by climate change to canals and rivers, the department has proposed ₹1,520 crore for long-term flood mitigation measures.

**Agriculture Department**
The demand has increased from ₹317 crore to ₹367 crore to cover desilting and field restoration efforts.

**Food and Supplies Department**
The department has sought ₹7 crore to repair damaged warehouses.

**Power Department**
₹139 crore has been requested for repair work related to hydel projects.

**Local Bodies and Forest Departments**
These departments have made claims of ₹77 crore and ₹4 crore, respectively.

The revised flood damage report reflects a comprehensive assessment aimed at facilitating effective recovery and rebuilding efforts across Punjab. The state government awaits final approval before proceeding with further action plans.
