Restored from a Fossil Side Mission in Pokémon Legends: Arceus (Z-A)
Restored from a Fossil is the 27th side mission in Pokémon Legends: Arceus (Z-A). While it unlocks after you progress further into the main story, completing this mission grants you a valuable in-game feature: the ability to collect different Fossils and restore them into various prominent Pokémon.
How to Access the Restored from a Fossil Side Mission
This side mission is not available immediately after starting your journey in Lumiose City. To unlock it, you need to progress to the 10th main mission titled The Secrets of Mega Evolution. During this mission, you are required to defeat Rogue Mega Slowbro, Rogue Mega Camerupt, and Rogue Mega Victreebel.
Once you have access to that mission, you can start the Restored from a Fossil side mission. Here’s how to begin:
- Head to the southernmost point on the map.
- Enter the Pokémon Research Lab building.
- Go to the second floor where the Laboratory is located.
- Talk to Reg inside the Laboratory to start the side mission.
Restored from a Fossil Side Mission Walkthrough
Step 1: Receive Funds from Reg
After initiating the mission by talking to Reg, he will give you 20,000 PokéDollars to use for purchasing a Fossil.
Step 2: Buy a Fossil
Exit the Pokémon Research Lab and make your way to the Stone Emporium, located right beside Wild Zone 12. Inside the shop, you will find several items for sale, but for the purpose of this quest, you need to purchase one of the following Fossils:
- Jaw Fossil
- Sail Fossil
The choice between the Jaw Fossil and the Sail Fossil is entirely up to you and does not affect mission progression. However, each choice will restore a different Pokémon:

Spend your 20,000 PokéDollars to buy one of these Fossils.
Step 3: Return to Reg at the Pokémon Research Lab
After your purchase, fast-travel back to the Pokémon Research Lab. Head to the second floor Laboratory and speak with Reg again.
When prompted, select the Fossil you bought from your inventory’s “Other Items” tab. Upon doing so, you will receive either a Tyrunt or Amaura, depending on your choice.
Note: Although you only receive one Pokémon during the mission, you can still obtain the other Fossil and restore its corresponding Pokémon after the mission ends by purchasing it yourself.
Mission Completion Rewards
Upon completing the Restored from a Fossil side mission, you will receive these rewards:
- A Hard Stone item
- 10 Kelpsy Berries
- 2,500 PokéDollars
