An Indian-origin couple, Pratik Patel and his wife, has issued an apology after a video of them sharing a kiss at a Garba event in Vadodara, Gujarat, went viral online. The incident occurred during the United Way Garba held in the Kalali area as part of the Navratri festivities.
The couple, who have been living in Australia for several years, were visiting India to spend time with family and partake in the celebrations. However, their public display of affection at the religious event sparked significant backlash.
### Public Backlash and Legal Complaint
The video quickly stirred outrage on social media and drew severe criticism from various religious groups. The Sanatan Sant Samiti demanded action against the couple, claiming their behavior was disrespectful to the sacred occasion.
Following the public uproar, advocate Bhavin Vyas filed a complaint at the Atladara Police Station, accusing the couple of hurting religious sentiments.
### Apology and Resolution
After being summoned by the authorities, Pratik Patel and his wife submitted a written apology. They expressed regret, acknowledging that their actions were inappropriate at what they described as a “sacred site during Navratri.”
According to police officials quoted by Livemint, the couple has been married for 16 years and have two children. They hail originally from Manjalpur and Anand but currently reside in Australia.
Following the controversy, the couple has left India and returned to Australia.
