**Jeremiyah Love Opens Up About Nearly Signing with Alabama Before Choosing Notre Dame**

Notre Dame running back Jeremiyah Love recently revealed just how close he came to signing with Alabama during his high school recruitment. As a highly sought-after prospect from St. Louis, Missouri, Love was heavily recruited by Nick Saban’s Crimson Tide.

Speaking on the latest episode of the Triple Option podcast, Love shared insights into his recruitment journey:
“I liked Alabama when I went there. I had a great visit, and I liked all the coaches. And I loved Coach Saban. I got to sit down and talk with him over some food. He was a great coach and is a great person in general, too, from my first experience. But Alabama just wasn’t the place for me, even though they had a great coaching staff. The town I thought was really cool; great place to be. Just wasn’t for me. Notre Dame was a better choice for me, but I did like their coaching staff, and I did like Coach Saban.”

Love’s decision to choose Notre Dame has proven to be the right one — for both him and the Fighting Irish. Though Saban eventually left Alabama, Love has made a significant impact at Notre Dame. Over three seasons, he boasts a 31-7 team record and played a pivotal role in leading the Irish to the College Football Playoff (CFP) National Championship Game in 2024.

Perhaps the highlight of Love’s collegiate career so far was a remarkable 98-yard rushing touchdown, which helped secure a thrilling victory over Indiana in last season’s CFP. In just three years, Love has rushed for 2,498 yards and 31 touchdowns, ranking eighth in Notre Dame’s history for rushing yards and fifth for rushing touchdowns.

The Irish began the current season on a challenging note with consecutive losses to Miami and Texas A&M. However, against the odds, Notre Dame has bounced back impressively. The team has strung together seven straight wins and now holds a 7-2 record, firmly back in the CFP conversation.

Jeremiyah Love has been instrumental in this turnaround, amassing 988 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns so far this season. As the Irish approach the final stretch, Love’s performance will be crucial for their push to secure a spot in the CFP.

Looking ahead, Notre Dame faces three tough matchups against Pittsburgh, Syracuse, and Stanford. Winning these games will strengthen their position and keep hopes alive for a second straight CFP appearance.

Making the playoffs is an important milestone, but the ultimate goal remains bringing home the national championship — Notre Dame’s first since 1988. With Jeremiyah Love leading the charge, the Fighting Irish have every reason to dream big this season.
