**New Google Smart Displays Are on the Way**

Google has reaffirmed its commitment to the smart display category, hinting at the possible launch of new versions of its Nest Hub and Nest Hub Max devices “soon.” This announcement follows the recent unveiling of a new smart speaker designed for Google’s AI-driven Gemini smart home platform. However, at that time, there was no mention of an upcoming smart display.

Anish Kattukaran, from the Google Home team, confirmed the company’s dedication to smart displays in an interview with The Verge. He stated that Google is “definitely committed to smart displays” and that there will be “news to share there soon.” This reinforces Google’s focus on smart displays, despite their absence in recent product launches.

Kattukaran also spoke about the potential of smart displays within Google’s future plans during The Vergecast podcast. He described smart displays as an “incredible form factor” for interacting with platforms like Gemini for Home. He highlighted the devices’ integrated microphone and speaker for audio input and output, complemented by a screen that enhances voice interaction through visualization of information.

Furthermore, he emphasized the role of smart displays in adding a vital vision component to Gemini’s multi-modal capabilities. As Kattukaran explained, “As I see where Gemini for Home is going and Gemini more broadly, Google’s upcoming Nest Hub comes…”

In the broader market, Amazon has recently launched two new Echo Show smart displays powered by its Alexa Plus AI assistant. These devices feature a new AZ3 Pro processor, edge-based computing capabilities, and the Omnisense fusion platform, which processes data locally from smart home sensors. These advancements underscore the increasing competition in the smart display market.

With Google preparing to introduce new smart displays, users can expect more innovation and enhanced integration in their smart home ecosystems soon.
