**Mumbai BJP Chief Ameet Satam Highlights Transformative Impact of Metro Line 3 on City’s Commute**

Mumbai BJP Chief Ameet Satam has expressed optimism about the inauguration of Metro Line 3, stating that it will revolutionize the city’s commuting culture, particularly by alleviating congestion on the Western Express Highway (WEH).

Speaking to *The Free Press Journal* about the project’s impact, Satam remarked, “The metro is going to change the way we live in the city forever and ensure ease of living for Mumbaikars. Specifically, this underground metro from Colaba to SEEPZ is going to have a major impact on the entire traffic as far as the Western Express Highway is concerned and the entire road leading up to South Mumbai.”

### Direct Impact on Western Express Highway

The Western Express Highway, which stretches from Dahisar to Bandra, is one of Mumbai’s busiest arterial routes. Every day, thousands of vehicles crowd the highway, causing significant delays, especially during peak hours.

Metro Line 3 is expected to significantly ease the burden on this corridor, as many daily commuters shift from road transport to the faster underground metro service. This shift is anticipated to reduce vehicular congestion and improve traffic flow on WEH.

### Faster, Smarter Commute

Once operational, Metro Line 3 will run 33.5 km entirely underground, connecting Colaba to SEEPZ via the Bandra Kurla Complex. The line will link key business hubs and residential areas, carrying an estimated 17 lakh passengers daily.

Currently, the road commute between Colaba and SEEPZ takes nearly two hours during heavy traffic. With Metro Line 3, this travel time is expected to drop to under an hour, providing a faster, more reliable option for commuters.

### Relief for South Mumbai

South Mumbai, known for its limited transport options and congested roads, stands to benefit immensely from Metro 3. With direct underground connectivity to Bandra and SEEPZ, office-goers will no longer have to depend solely on overcrowded trains or the bottleneck-prone highway.

This improved connectivity is also expected to reduce the number of cars entering South Mumbai, easing pressure on key entry points and improving the overall traffic situation.

### Towards a Cleaner, Faster Mumbai

Ameet Satam emphasized that Metro Line 3 is more than just an infrastructure project; it represents a step toward building a sustainable, modern city. By reducing the number of vehicles on the Western Express Highway, the metro will help cut pollution and fuel consumption.

Additionally, commuters will benefit from a safer, air-conditioned, and more reliable mode of transportation. With its inauguration, Metro Line 3 is poised to reshape not only daily travel but also the way Mumbai moves, offering long-awaited relief to WEH commuters and enhancing overall urban mobility.
