**Mannara Chopra to Make Tamil Debut with ‘Highlights’**

Bollywood actress Mannara Chopra, cousin of Priyanka Chopra Jonas, is set to make her Tamil cinema debut as the female lead in the upcoming film *Highlights*. This fantasy thriller aims to showcase the rich history and culture of the Badaga community from The Nilgiris.

Although Mannara had a cameo appearance in a song for the 2015 film *Kaaval*, *Highlights* marks her first full-fledged role in Tamil cinema.

### About the Film

*Highlights* will feature Vijay Sathya in the lead role and will include a historical flashback set in pre-independence India. Sathya, who belongs to the Badaga community, expressed his passion for telling the story of his indigenous heritage. Speaking to *The Times of India*, he said,
*”I’m a Badaga and wanted to make a film that will highlight the heritage of this community of people who are indigenous to The Nilgiris.”*

### Production and Casting

The production team plans to begin shooting by the end of October or the first week of November, with filming set in Ooty.

Vijay Sathya revealed that Mannara Chopra was chosen for the female lead because of her pan-Indian recognition.
*”Since we are planning to make this a pan-Indian project, we needed an actor who will be recognized across India,”* he explained.

In addition to her popularity, Chopra’s look test wearing traditional Badaga attire played a significant role in the casting decision. Sathya noted,
*”She also looked convincing when we did a look test with her in the Badaga costume.”*
