Miami Art Week is about to bloom, and “Loud” is planting the biggest seed of all. Creatives are coming together and turning Miami Gardens into a magical place. It’s a week filled with exhibits, fashion, art, and, of course, a roaring good time. Let’s get loud, Miami!

Dr. Karine Melissa, co-creator of Loud, explains the vision:
“Loud—Love of Urban Design—has become a hub for all things creative about us. We are really being loud about who we are, our culture, and the love of it.”

This week-long cultural movement is all about growth. With the theme “Bloom,” Miami Gardens will host the most creative show yet. As Dr. Karine Melissa puts it, “We are talking about how we are blooming as creatives.”

Fashion disruptors Cool Creative love to think outside the box. Johanne Wilson, co-creator of Cool Creative, shares the inspiration behind their designs:
“My husband is the illustrator and I do the design. We draw cultural icons—from MLK and Malcolm X to Diana Ross—and put them on clothing, sweatshirts, t-shirts, and even jackets.”

Their work has already caught the eye of Jennifer Hudson. Johanne recalls, “You think no one’s paying attention, and then I guess they are. Jennifer Hudson’s stylist reached out to us. Jennifer pretty much has the entire collection.”

Experimentation is the focus this year. Johanne adds, “Corsets are really in, so what if you took a corset and threw it over a sweatshirt? What if you layered two or three? Why not? We’re just having fun.”

Celebrating local talent is at the heart of Loud Week. Lump, creator of Lavish and Looney, will showcase six large-scale pieces that blend loud art with loud fashion. “Women are my go-to subject, and diamonds are my staple,” he says. “You’ll see a lot of feminine energy and sparkle in my work.”
