Jets trading Quinnen Williams to Cowboys in second trade deadline blockbuster
The Jets’ trade deadline selloff, which began with the departure of Sauce Gardner, has now reached star defensive tackle Quinnen Williams. Gang Green traded Williams to the Dallas Cowboys in exchange for a first-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, according to multiple reports.
Williams, who signed a $96 million extension in July 2023, had an outstanding 2022 season that prompted the massive deal, recording 12 sacks. However, over the two-plus seasons since, he has accumulated only 12.5 sacks as opposing offenses have adjusted and frequently double-teamed him.
With this trade, the Jets will have five first-round picks across the next two drafts. They acquired two first-round picks in 2026, another in 2027, and wide receiver AD Mitchell in exchange for Sauce Gardner in a deal with the Colts earlier on Tuesday.
This series of moves signals a clear shift toward rebuilding and accumulating draft capital for the Jets moving forward.
