Jaylen Brown scores 35 points in 26 minutes before watching Celtics coast to 136-107 win over Wizards
BOSTON (AP) — Jaylen Brown scored 35 points as the Boston Celtics overcame a double-digit first-quarter deficit to defeat the Washington Wizards 136-107 on Wednesday night. The loss marked Washington’s sixth straight.
Brown got off to a strong start with 16 points in the first quarter, adding five rebounds and five assists before exiting the game with two minutes remaining in the third quarter. At that point, Boston was already leading by 19 points.
Neemias Queta contributed 15 points and 12 rebounds for the Celtics, who ended a two-game losing streak at home. Alex Sarr led the Wizards with 31 points, eight rebounds, and three blocked shots—his seventh consecutive game with at least two blocks.
Washington has now lost nine straight games against Boston dating back to March 2023.
The Wizards built an early 32-20 lead in the first quarter and maintained a 39-30 advantage early in the second. However, the Celtics responded with a 19-2 run, scoring 19 of the next 21 points to take control. Payton Pritchard tallied 10 of his 18 points during that stretch.
Boston held a 10-point lead at halftime, extended it to 22 after three quarters, and pushed the margin to 33 points in the fourth quarter, despite resting Brown and other starters.
Josh Minott scored a career-high 21 points for the Celtics. Boston shot a season-low 41 attempts from beyond the arc but made a season-high 39% of their 3-point shots.
The Wizards will visit Cleveland on Friday, while the Celtics head to Orlando for a pair of games Friday and Sunday.
