Indore News: Computer Professional Duped Of ₹1.03 Lakh In Cyber Scam

**Computer Professional in Indore Duped of Rs 1.03 Lakh in Online Scam Involving Call Forwarding Hack**
Indore (Madhya Pradesh): A 54-year-old computer professional from Prabhu Nagar became the victim of an online scam, losing Rs 1.03 lakh after a fraudster hacked his mobile phone by activating unconditional call forwarding. The police have registered a case and initiated an investigation to identify the accused.
According to Additional DCP (Zone-1) Alok Sharma, the complainant came across an advertisement for a private bank’s credit card on social media a few days ago. He clicked on the ad and shared his personal details to apply for the card.
Two days later, the victim received a phone call from someone posing as a bank representative. The caller informed him about an exclusive offer to increase his credit card limit. During the conversation, the fraudster sent a link and instructed the complainant to press specific keys on his phone.
Unbeknownst to the victim, these actions allowed the scammer to steal his messages and OTPs (One-Time Passwords). After the complainant downloaded the link, his mobile phone was hacked, enabling the conman to siphon off Rs 1.03 lakh from his bank account.
Upon noticing the unauthorized transaction, the complainant reported the matter to both the bank and the police. Authorities are currently gathering information about the bank account holder and working to freeze the funds in the account to prevent further loss.
The police have urged the public to be cautious of unsolicited calls and links, especially when sharing sensitive personal and banking information online.
