Here’s everything shown at Minecraft Live, including the new Nautilus and Spear
The September Minecraft Live showcase has just wrapped up, delivering a massive look at everything coming in *The Copper Age*, along with a big teaser for the *Mounts of Mayhem* game drop expected later this year. The livestream remains the ideal place to catch all the crucial news for one of the best sandbox games ever, and this latest installment is no exception.
### Introducing The Copper Age
With the reveal of a new Nautilus mob—perfect for exploring underwater—and a spear weapon that opens up fresh combat possibilities, there’s a lot to get excited about. As a big Terraria fan, I’ve been waiting a long time for copper to get its rightful representation in Minecraft. The latest Minecraft Live details exactly when we’ll be able to get our hands on *The Copper Age*.
This handy new material is set to transform early game progression. Many of its features have been in testing for a while, including the adorable Copper Golem that can sort items between your Copper Chests. Now, we know the Minecraft 1.21.9 release date—and the wait is almost over.
**The Copper Age launches on Tuesday, September 30.**
Once it launches, you’ll be able to use copper in all the standard tools you’d expect, plus armor, weapons, torches, lanterns, chains, and more. The green-tinged Copper Torch and Copper Lantern are personal favorites, adding a fresh aesthetic to your builds. These copper creations fit perfectly between iron and gold when it comes to protection, damage, and durability, filling in a gap that has long felt like too big a leap.
### New Furniture: The Shelf
The update also introduces the Shelf, an innovative new piece of furniture. It functions a bit like a three-space item frame but also acts as storage, allowing you to hold entire stacks of whatever you choose to display on it. It’s a fantastic addition for both utility and decoration.
### A First Look at Mounts of Mayhem
Alongside The Copper Age details, the stream gave us our first glimpse at what’s coming in *Mounts of Mayhem*, set to arrive later in 2025. This update will introduce a brand-new tiered weapon: the Spear.
The Spear can be used to jab or charged up to unleash a powerful blow capable of knocking foes clean off their mounts when timed correctly. You can even wield it while riding your own mount or a minecart. As a bonus, the Spear’s damage scales up the faster you’re moving, encouraging dynamic combat tactics.
### Meet the Nautilus: Your Underwater Mount
The Nautilus is a new underwater mount tamed by feeding it Pufferfish. Once allied, you can explore the oceans in style and equip your Nautilus with various armor types if you find them.
The best part? While riding a Nautilus, a special effect prevents your air bubbles from being consumed, letting you stay underwater indefinitely—as long as you stay mounted.
However, the ocean depths aren’t without danger. A Zombie Nautilus variant poses a serious threat and is a favorite mount of the Drowned.
### Zombie Horse Comes to Survival Mode
Undead creatures also get new mounts on dry land. The Zombie Horse, previously exclusive to Creative mode for over a decade, will now appear in Survival. While their riders are hostile, the Zombie Horses themselves are passive towards players.
### What’s Next?
*Minecraft Mounts of Mayhem* is slated to launch in late 2025. You can read more details [here].
### Additional Highlights
The event also featured a special celebration video for the Happy Ghast mob introduced with *Chase the Skies* and revealed that a Dragon Ball Z DLC is set to arrive later this year.
