The Palestinian militant group Hamas has partially accepted United States President Donald Trump’s peace proposal for Gaza, marking a significant development in the ongoing conflict. The acceptance comes with conditions, including an immediate end to hostilities and the release of all remaining hostages captured during the October 7 attacks.
### Hamas Expresses Appreciation for Global Support
In a statement shared by Trump on his social media platform Truth Social, Hamas acknowledged the efforts by Arab, Islamic, and international communities aimed at ending the war in Gaza. The group reiterated its national responsibility to defend Palestinian rights and emphasized that its leadership engaged in extensive consultations internally, with Palestinian factions, and with various mediators and allies to reach a responsible position.
### Willingness to Transfer Gaza Administration
Hamas also expressed readiness to transfer the administration of Gaza to a “Palestinian body of independents (technocrats),” formed on the basis of national consensus and backed by Arab and Islamic support. The group agreed to release all occupation prisoners in exchange for the hostages, in line with Trump’s proposal.
Notably, Hamas’ statement did not address disarmament—a key demand made by Israel as part of Trump’s peace plan.
### Israel Scales Back Military Operations
Following Hamas’s partial acceptance, Israeli political leadership reportedly instructed the military to reduce offensive operations in Gaza. The Israeli government is preparing for the “immediate implementation” of the first stage of Trump’s peace plan.
Earlier, Trump ordered Israel to halt bombings in Gaza immediately after receiving Hamas’s statement. On social media, he declared, “Based on the Statement just issued by Hamas, I believe they are ready for a lasting PEACE.”
### Overview of Trump’s Peace Proposal
Supported by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Trump’s peace plan seeks to end two years of hostilities between Israel and Gaza. The proposal calls for:
– The release of hostages within 72 hours
– A gradual withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza
– The removal of Hamas and other militant factions from governance roles in Gaza
Under the plan, Gaza would be governed by a technocratic post-war transitional authority, with oversight provided by President Trump’s administration.

This partial acceptance marks a hopeful step towards peace in a region long fraught with conflict, though key issues remain unresolved as negotiations continue.
