Four Japan Rail Companies to Link Online Reservation Services

Currently, services such as JR West’s e5489 and JR Central’s EX Service operate independently, each with different coverage areas and ticketing methods. This separation has led to user complaints about the systems being difficult to navigate.
In response, the four JR companies announced at a joint press conference on September 19th that they will integrate their reservation systems. This integration aims to enable smoother usage across service boundaries, enhancing convenience for passengers.
Starting in October, passengers who hold accounts with both e5489 and EX Service will be able to log in to both platforms using a single ID. Furthermore, the companies plan to introduce a system allowing linked accounts to be used seamlessly across services without requiring users to re-enter login details.
This new integration will make transfers between reservation platforms much more straightforward, improving the overall travel experience for JR customers.
