Toronto Blue Jays manager John Schneider has some adjustments to consider following the Game 2 loss. However, even he couldn’t stop thinking about Yoshinobu Yamamoto’s dominant complete game performance for the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Yamamoto struck out eight batters and reached a milestone not seen since 2001, leaving Blue Jays fans in shambles after his stellar outing. Despite the loss, Schneider, skipper of the American League champions, praised Yamamoto’s impressive display.

“It’s hard to do, you know what I mean?” Schneider commented regarding the feat of pitching all nine innings. “I get why Doc [Dave Roberts of the Dodgers] let him go — he was that good. You have to appreciate a complete game.”

The right-hander mixed fastballs, curveballs, and splitters early in the game to keep the Blue Jays off balance. He stranded two runners on base while striking out key hitters Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Daulton Varsho, and inducing a groundout from Alejandro Kirk.

Blue Jays teammates George Springer and Nathan Lukes were unable to advance from third and first base, respectively, as Yamamoto recorded three straight outs. Addison Barger became the next to strike out after missing a 97 mph fastball.

Kirk managed to drive in the only run for the home team at Rogers Centre, hitting a sacrifice fly to center field that brought Springer home.

Following that sequence, Yamamoto forced nine total groundouts through the bottom of the seventh inning, showcasing his command and control.

Yamamoto joined former San Francisco Giants pitcher Madison Bumgarner (2014) in delivering two complete games during a single postseason—an impressive achievement highlighting his endurance and skill.
