ESPN Announces Curious ‘College GameDay’ Decision After YouTube TV Deal
After a 15-day standoff, Disney and Google have finally reached a new carriage rights agreement, bringing Disney’s slate of networks back to YouTube TV customers.
The standoff began on October 30 when YouTube TV announced the removal of Disney networks, including ABC and ESPN, after the two sides failed to agree on a new deal. This disruption meant that sports fans missed two weekends of college football and two Monday Night Football games.
On November 14, subscribers received good news. YouTube TV shared in a statement:
“We’re happy to share that we’ve reached an agreement with Disney that preserves the value of our service for our subscribers and future flexibility in our offers. Disney’s networks will be returning to the service over the course of the day, along with any recordings that were previously in subscribers’ libraries. We apologize for the disruption and appreciate our subscribers’ patience as we negotiated on their behalf.”

Despite the new deal, ESPN made a notable decision regarding its College GameDay show. The network allowed ESPN personality Pat McAfee to stream the show live on his X account as well as the official ESPN X account.
ESPN stated:
“Tomorrow, ESPN’s @CollegeGameDay remains available to all fans on the ESPN App with no subscription or authentication needed. Fans can also watch all three hours live on X via @PatMcAfeeShow and @ESPN. College GameDay will be live from Pittsburgh for a Top 25 showdown between No. 9 Notre Dame and No. 22 Pitt, with Aaron Donald as guest picker!”
For reference, ESPN’s college football pregame show airs from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. ET.
