**Antioch Shooting Hospitalizes 9-Year-Old Boy; 17-Year-Old Arrested**

Antioch police responded to a shooting incident Sunday that left a 9-year-old boy hospitalized. Authorities have arrested a 17-year-old suspect in connection with the shooting. The young victim is expected to survive his injuries.

According to Antioch police Lt. Joe Njoroge, officers identified and apprehended the 17-year-old during their investigation. It has not been disclosed whether the suspect has been booked into Juvenile Hall.

Officers were called to the 300 block of Sunset Drive at approximately 4:30 p.m. Upon arrival, they found the 9-year-old boy who had been shot. Police have not confirmed if he was hit by multiple bullets.

Emergency personnel treated the boy at the scene before he was transported by ambulance to a hospital for further care.

Lt. Njoroge did not provide details on the motive behind the shooting, stating that the investigation is still ongoing. Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward and contact the police at [email protected].
