However, Devdutt Padikkal and Karun Nair steadied the innings with a crucial partnership of 146 runs for the third wicket. Their blend of youthful ambition and experienced composure helped Karnataka recover well, constantly rotating the strike and keeping the scoreboard moving.

The partnership was finally broken by Saurashtra’s left-arm spinner Dharmendra Jadeja, ending Nair’s innings at 73.

This innings marked Padikkal’s 19th fifty in First-Class cricket. Playing his 47th First-Class match, he has amassed 3,140 runs at an average of around 43. With 7 centuries and 19 fifties in 47 innings, Padikkal continues to prove his mettle as a dependable batsman in India’s domestic circuit.
