Democrats are leading Republicans by 8 points on a generic congressional ballot, according to new polling data.

In the NBC News survey released Sunday, 50 percent of respondents expressed a preference for “a Congress controlled by Democrats” following the 2026 midterm elections. Meanwhile, 42 percent said they wanted “a Congress controlled by Republicans.”

The remaining 8 percent were either undecided or supported other options.
