Chiefs Make 2 Last-Minute Roster Moves, Hinting at Key Injury Absence: Report
Just hours before the Kansas City Chiefs’ Week 8 Monday Night Football matchup against the Washington Commanders, the team made two final roster moves by elevating players from their practice squad. One of these decisions suggests that starting right guard Trey Smith might be sidelined for the game on October 27.
According to Chiefs Digest beat reporter Matt Derrick, the Chiefs have elevated offensive guard CJ Hanson and defensive tackle Marlon Tuipulotu for tonight’s contest against Washington.
The Kansas City offensive line is already down one starter, as rookie left tackle Josh Simmons remains out indefinitely due to a family matter. If Smith is also unable to play, that would result in two key starters missing from the line.
The team hinted at Smith’s possible absence earlier on October 25. Their social media announced, “Trey Smith is doubtful for Monday Night’s game against the Commanders.”
With the decision to elevate backup guard CJ Hanson, it seems increasingly likely that Smith will be held out due to a back injury.
This is a developing story — stay tuned for more updates.
