Celeste Rivas Hernandez’s death could result in only minor charges after her body was found wrapped in plastic in D4vd’s trunk
Teen Celeste Rivas Hernandez’s death could result in only minor charges after her decaying body was found in singer D4vd’s Tesla trunk. Los Angeles police say they have yet to uncover evidence of a serious crime.
The cause of death for the 14-year-old, whose body was discovered wrapped in plastic, remains unconfirmed. The LA Police Department told KTLA in a statement last week, referring to a previous press release, that “it remains unclear whether there is any criminal culpability beyond the concealment of her body.”
Celeste’s highly decomposed corpse was found on September 8, the day after she would have turned 15. Workers at an impound lot had called the LAPD after noticing a foul smell emanating from a black Tesla that had been abandoned on a street near a mansion rented by D4vd’s manager. The vehicle was subsequently towed to the impound site.
The expensive electric car belonged to the 20-year-old music star, whose legal name is David Anthony Burke. At the time, the singer was on tour.
Celeste’s mother revealed that her daughter ran away from their home in Lake Elsinore in 2024 at age 13 after entering into a relationship with someone named “David.” According to TMZ, Celeste had the same tattoo as the artist.
Despite this, if someone did conceal Celeste’s body in the singer’s trunk, they could face no more than a minor penalty. In California, concealing human remains is classified as a misdemeanor.
Following the discovery of Celeste’s body, D4vd canceled his world tour. Dozens of photos and videos have circulated online allegedly showing the two together. Messages from fan chat rooms reveal that D4vd’s followers had been speculating about a girlfriend named “Celeste” long before the teen’s tragic death.
The artist also reportedly has an unreleased track titled “Celeste,” and The Post confirmed that a photo shows him in a parking lot just blocks from the girl’s home.
Since then, police have raided a $20,000-a-month Hollywood Hills mansion leased by D4vd’s manager, located near where the Tesla had been parked for weeks before being towed. Photos circulating online show the artist spending time at the residence.
A private detective hired by the owner of the Hollywood Hills manse, Mladen Trifunovic, claims to have discovered “farm” tools inside the house. Steve Fisher, conducting the three-week ongoing investigation, stated that several tools typically used on farms “could be used to get rid of a body.”
Security footage revealed that the SUV was last moved from its usual spot in front of the home on July 29 and parked just a few blocks away, where it remained until a neighbor filed a complaint on August 29, according to Fisher. The car was towed to the impound lot on September 5, and Celeste’s body was found three days later, per LAPD reports.
“I do believe that when the car was moved on July 29 that [Hernandez] was in the front trunk of the Tesla at that time and probably had been for quite a while at that point,” Fisher told The Post.
Since the grim discovery, the rapper has gone silent and hired high-powered attorney Blair Berk, who previously represented disgraced movie mogul Harvey Weinstein. Neither Berk nor the LAPD responded to requests for comment from The Post.
