A Malabar man charged with the murder of an Arouca businessman in 2021 has been acquitted by the High Court. Andrew Sutton was found not guilty by Justice Nalini Singh after a judge-only trial at the Hall of Justice, Port of Spain. Sutton was before the court charged with the murder of businessman Nicholas Mohith on March 11, 2021. Mohith, 31, of Eastern Main Road, Arouca, was at his business place with a male relative around 4 pm on March 11, 2021, when a gunman entered and shot him before running off. Another man was also charged for the murder. Renaldo Thomas, of Carapo, who was arrested on March 29, 2021, was discharged by the High Court on June 6, because the prosecution failed to present evidence. Thomas’s case, which was initially heard at the Arima Magistrates’ Court before being transferred to the High Court under the Administration of Justice (Preliminary Inquiries) Act (AJIPA), had been stalled repeatedly due to the State’s non-compliance with disclosure requirements. At least three scheduled sufficiency hearings, in August 2024, October 2024, and March, were adjourned because the prosecution failed to disclose evidence. In each instance, the State filed applications for extensions on the morning of the hearing and a final extension was granted in April. However, on the morning of the sufficiency hearing on June 6, Master Sarah De Silva made it clear that no further adjournments would be granted. When the court insisted that the sufficiency hearing proceed, the prosecution indicated it had no evidence to offer in Thomas’s case. De Silva questioned why a notice of discontinuance had not been filed and made it clear that the court will not discharge Thomas in a manner that would allow the State to re-arrest and re-lay charges. Thomas was then formally arraigned, and with the prosecution offering no evidence, the court ruled under Section 24 of AJIPA, which allows for discharge when evidence fails to meet the prima facie threshold, that he be discharged. Sutton was represented by Delicia Helwig-Robertson and Sara Julien of the Public Defender’s Department. Shervon Noriega and Cassie Bisram prosecuted. Crypto News Today: Brazil Considers Tax on International Crypto Transfers
The post Crypto News Today: Brazil Considers Tax com. Brazil plans to tax international crypto transfers and align with CARF to close loopholes and strengthen oversight. Brazil is reportedly considering a tax on international crypto payments. The government plans to expand the Imposto sobre Operações Financeiras (IOF) to include digital asset transfers abroad. This move comes as Brazil aligns its rules with the global Crypto-Asset Reporting Framework (CARF). Officials say that the aim is to increase transparency, close loopholes and capture revenue from the growing crypto sector. Brazil Plans Crypto Tax on International Payments Officials from Brazil’s Finance Ministry are reviewing proposals to tax cross-border crypto transfers. The tax would treat some stablecoins and other digital assets like traditional foreign-exchange transactions. Sources told Reuters that the current exemption creates a loophole for importers and other businesses. However, capital gains on crypto are taxed at 17. 5% Expanding the tax to cross-border payments would capture flows that now escape regulation. Authorities estimate Brazil may be losing over 30 billion dollars annually from unregulated crypto transfers used for payments and imports. Officials are considering which cryptocurrencies and transactions would be subject to IOF. The focus includes both domestic exchanges and foreign providers serving Brazilian users. The government also wants to make sure that stablecoins cannot act as a substitute for traditional foreign exchange. CARF is a global standard for sharing crypto account data among tax authorities. This alignment gives Brazil access to citizens’ foreign crypto accounts. Brazil signed a statement in favour of CARF in late 2023. Other countries, including the United Arab Emirates, the EU and the.

EXCLUSIVE: CBFC censors 6 dialogues in Mastiii 4; deletes ‘top angle animal humping visuals’
The sex comedy Mastiii 4 will be released on Friday, November 21 and it has caught attention due to its trailer and franchise value. A film of this sort is releasing in cinemas after a long time and this is expected to go in favour of the makers. There was a fear that the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) might play spoilsport and ask for several cuts. In this article, Bollywood Hungama will exclusively focus on the cuts given to this film by the CBFC. The good news is that the cuts given to the film are limited. Three dialogues were modified, and one dialogue was requested to be replaced. The word ‘behen’ was replaced, and in another part of the film, the word ‘item’ was similarly replaced with an appropriate alternative. An alcohol brand name was changed, presumably to a fictional company name. The CBFC also asked the makers for some visual modifications. Its members asked the makers to delete ‘top angle animal humping visuals’. The said visual was of 9 seconds. Lastly, they asked the makers to reduce 30-second-long close visuals of human faces. Hence, 39 seconds of visuals were cut in all. Once these changes were made, Mastiii 4 was passed with an ‘A’ certificate on November 17. The length of the film, as mentioned on the censor certificate, is 144. 17 minutes. In other words, Mastiii 4 is 2 hours 24 minutes and 17 seconds long. Mastiii 4 is directed by Milap Zaveri, who delivered a surprise super-hit just last month with Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat. It stars Riteish Deshmukh, Vivek Oberoi and Aftab Shivdasani, who have always featured in the previous parts of the franchise as well Masti (2004), Grand Masti (2013) and Great Grand Masti (2016). This time, they are joined by Ruhii Singh, Shreya Sharma, Elnaaz Norouzi, Natalia Janoszek, Shaad Randhawa and Nishant Singh Malkani, along with Arshad Warsi, Tusshar Kapoor and Nargis Fakhri.
