A Republican congressman has requested an investigation by Capitol Police after an American flag featuring a swastika among the red and white stripes was found in his office.

On Wednesday, Politico reported that the flag was displayed in the cubicle of one of Rep. Dave Taylor’s staffers. Taylor represents Ohio’s 2nd Congressional District, which covers eastern Cincinnati and its suburbs.

In a statement, Taylor condemned the flag, calling it “vile and deeply inappropriate.” He emphasized, “The content of that image does not reflect the values or standards of this office, my staff, or myself, and I condemn it in the strongest terms.”

Taylor has directed Capitol Police to investigate how the flag ended up in the cubicle. However, he did not specify whether the staffer displayed the flag intentionally or if someone else placed it there.

This incident comes shortly after another Politico report revealed that members of Young Republicans organizations had been sharing antisemitic and racist messages in group chats, with some participants praising Adolf Hitler.
