Bulls’ Josh Giddey Seemingly Throws Shot at Thunder After Career Night

The Chicago Bulls have been one of the more surprising teams in the NBA to start the season, currently sitting at 5-0 with some impressive wins.

After a 135-125 victory against the New York Knicks on Friday night, where Josh Giddey finished with an outstanding 32 points, 10 rebounds, and nine assists, it looks like Chicago might have found its point guard of the future—and potentially an All-Star.

Giddey was traded to the Bulls from the Oklahoma City Thunder in a deal involving Alex Caruso. This move was met with criticism by many, given Caruso’s significant impact on the defensive side of the basketball. While a contending team like the Thunder may seem a better fit for a player of Caruso’s defensive prowess, Giddey appears to be a great match for Chicago’s needs.

The trade seems to have worked out well for both sides. Giddey has really flourished offensively during his time with the Bulls, showing his value night after night.

Speaking to reporters after the game, Giddey made a subtle comment about feeling wanted, possibly sending a message to his former team that decided to move on from him. “I’m in a place where I’m wanted,” Giddey said, per Joel Lorenzi. “I love being here, I’m happy here. That’s what we need as a player—to have the belief of everybody around you. It propels you in the right direction.”

Playing for the Bulls carries a sense of honor, as they are one of the NBA’s most storied franchises. On top of that, Giddey secured a nice payday this offseason. If he continues to perform at this level, he’ll likely continue to earn more in Chicago, should both sides want to keep this relationship intact for the long term.
