Apex Legends: Amped battles on an revamped Olympus

While the most recent season updates for Apex Legends have brought exciting additions, sometimes it’s time for a big change. For Season 27, titled **Amped**, Respawn Entertainment is taking a sledgehammer to the old Olympus map, revamping it to introduce an exhilarating new meta. But that’s not all players can look forward to.

### Olympus: A Fresh Take on a Classic Map

The Olympus map originally debuted way back in Season 7, during a time when Apex Legends, like the rest of the world, was navigating the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. Built with the thrill of a sky-high battleground in mind, Olympus has been a fan favorite for years. Now, five years later, Respawn is injecting fresh excitement into its design.

For those who haven’t followed Apex Legends’ lore closely, chaos struck Olympus after it collided with the Stasis Net on Broken Moon and disappeared back in Season 20. The city was later discovered buried in the snowy tundra of Pagos and has since been restored to a workable condition.

### Four New Points of Interest (POIs)

Players can expect to find four brand-new POIs spread across the revamped map:

– **Somers University**: Built by Horizon, Somers University replaces the old Orbital Cannon. Unlike the Orbital Cannon—an element known for being less fun in early and late games—Somers University offers a more approachable exterior, additional cover, and a unique triangular layout for tactical gameplay.

– **The Gravity Engine**: Taking over from the old Energy Depot, the Gravity Engine is the heartbeat that keeps Olympus afloat. Featuring numerous lifts and zip rails, it enhances vertical mobility and opens up dynamic fight opportunities.

– **The Stabilizer**: This area replaces the former Docks and helps keep Olympus aligned. Its platform design often leads to intense and nerve-wracking encounters.

– **The Dockyhard**: Located near the Hydroponics, Dockyhard blends ideas from the old Olympus map with new vertical elements, encouraging diverse and strategic team fights.

### Legend Reworks for a High-Flying Meta

With Olympus in the spotlight, some of Apex Legends’ characters are receiving significant updates, especially those excelling in vertical combat.

– **Horizon**: Given her strong connection to Olympus, Horizon is getting several buffs focused on agility and survivability. Instead of nerfs, Respawn opted to grant her new movement tools, including options that enhance her abilities during vertical battles as players level up. Additionally, her Gravity Lift Tactical now has a shorter cooldown, and her Black Hole Ultimate gains extra health for better durability.

– **Valkyrie**: Known for aerial combat, Valkyrie once ruled the skies but needed some upgrades to keep her edge. Her VTOL Jets now provide increased speed boosts, and her Skyward Dive Ultimate has a reduced takeoff time for quicker engagement. Her Missile Swarm Tactical has been amplified—it now scans enemies on contact and no longer damages herself. New upgrades will impact missile patterns, fuel consumption, and further reduce Skyward Dive’s takeoff time.

– **Rampart**: Her walls receive notable improvements with extra durability. The Amped Cover Tactical boosts her walls’ health, grants speed enhancements, and adds a roof as players level up. New upgrades will allow Rampart’s walls to regenerate health and provide infinite ammo to teammates behind them. While these changes suggest a more defensive role, Respawn believes these buffs will encourage Rampart to be more mobile and supportive for her squad.

### Weapon and Movement Updates

The Amped season also brings tweaks to Apex Legends’ weaponry and movement mechanics:

– **Alternator SMG**: The biggest weapon change is the introduction of the **Double Tap Hop Up** for the Alternator. This attachment lets players fire both barrels simultaneously, delivering increased damage capable of downing enemies at close range instantly.

– **Mantle Boost**: An improved Mantle Boost will enhance player momentum, enabling faster map traversal. A new visual indicator makes executing this move easier, ensuring smoother and more fluid movement.

### Olympus Returns in Wildcard Mode

Olympus isn’t just coming back to the core Battle Royale experience. The new **Wildcard mode**, introduced last season, is receiving Olympus for the first time. This Wildcard version features extra ziplines, gravity cannons, and other additions designed to keep matches fast-paced and thrilling.

Olympus will be part of Wildcard during the **Supersonic Event**, running from November 18 to December 16.

### Season 27: Get Ready to Take Flight
