Anthony Kim Weighs In on Kamala Harris Running Mate Comments

Anthony Kim recently shared his thoughts on a notable political headline by resharing a Fox News report about Vice President Kamala Harris on his Instagram story on Saturday, September 20. The American golfer highlighted Harris’s comments revealing that Minnesota Governor Tim Walz was not her first choice as a running mate during the 2020 campaign.

Kim added a thinking-face emoji and tagged Governor Walz in the post, drawing attention to the report that Harris had originally preferred former U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg for the role. According to Fox News, Harris explains in her upcoming book, *107 Days*, that while she initially considered Buttigieg, she felt that pairing a Black woman and a gay man was perceived as too big of a risk for voters at that time.

Anthony Kim’s Career Comeback and LIV Golf Return

At 40 years old, Anthony Kim has been working to rebuild his professional golf career after a long absence. He recently returned to competition on the LIV Golf circuit but faced a challenging season. Despite a tough run that ended with relegation after two winless seasons, Kim remains resolute in his commitment to a comeback.

Kim is now preparing to compete at the Jakarta International Championship on the Asian Tour in early October. He hopes a strong performance throughout the remaining International Series events in Cambodia, the Philippines, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Saudi Arabia could secure his spot back on LIV Golf for 2026.

Clapping Back at Critics on Social Media

On Friday, September 19, Kim fired back at his critics with a sharp response on X (formerly Twitter). Posting a clip of his practice session, Kim addressed the emotional grown men who continue to talk about him despite claiming not to care. He wrote, “I’ll keep grindin’ 1% better,” and concluded with a nod to his sobriety, stating: “SOBER is DOPE.”

LIV Golf Promotion Challenges

Kim’s return to professional golf comes with added challenges. After more than a decade away, his best finishes in the 2024 and 2025 LIV seasons were 36th and a tie for 25th, respectively, which was not enough to retain his tour status.

This year, LIV Golf has tightened its promotion rules. Only the player who tops the International Series money list is guaranteed a card for the following season, and fewer overall spots are available. Should Kim fail to finish first in the series, he still has the option to compete in the year-end Promotions Event, typically held in December at Riyadh Golf Club. The winner of this event earns a direct LIV card, but competition is extremely fierce.

Despite the uphill battle, Anthony Kim remains determined to reclaim his place in professional golf and is focused on delivering exceptional performances in the months ahead.
