Alabama Basketball’s SEC-Opening Availability Report Against Kentucky
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Prior to the 2024-25 season, the Southeastern Conference (SEC) implemented a new policy requiring mandatory injury reports for football, basketball, and baseball ahead of all conference games. It is important to note that this requirement applies only to conference matchups.
On Saturday at 11 a.m. CT, No. 14 Alabama men’s basketball will play its first SEC home game of the regular season against Kentucky.
### Injury Reporting Protocol
For the initial injury report post, players are categorized as “probable,” “questionable,” “doubtful,” or “out.” Then, on game day, further clarity is provided by listing players as “available,” “game time decision,” or “out” for the upcoming game. ### Alabama Recap and Injury Updates
Alabama closed out its non-conference slate with an impressive 102-78 home win over Yale on December 29. The Crimson Tide drained 22 three-pointers, resetting the season’s single-game record (previously 16). Notably, Alabama accomplished this without superstar guard Labaron Philon Jr. and freshmen London Jemison and Davion Hannah.
“Labaron is going through treatment,” Alabama head coach Nate Oats said following the Yale game. “He’s got a left leg injury from a contusion he sustained in the Kennesaw game. It’s definitely not super serious, but he couldn’t play at this point. We’re off tomorrow. Hopefully, he gets a lot of rehab. I think it’s pretty likely he’ll play Saturday, but I don’t want to say for sure.”
Regarding Jemison, Oats added, “London, we’ve been aiming for him to play in this game since he got hurt in the South Florida game, so hopefully the rehab goes as well as it’s going and he’ll be available Saturday.”
Davion Hannah is still managing a medical condition. “He’s just not quite there yet,” the coach said. “We’re trying to work him back into game shape, but I don’t know where he’ll be. So, I anticipate Labaron and London playing against Kentucky, but it’s hard to say—we’ll see how rehab goes over the next three or four days.”
Freshman center Collins Onyejiaka has been out since Alabama’s third regular season game due to a medical condition and remains out indefinitely.
### Looking Back: Last Meeting vs. Kentucky
The Crimson Tide last faced Kentucky in the 2025 SEC Tournament quarterfinal, dominating with a 99-70 victory. Alabama never trailed in that game, with five players scoring in double figures. Labaron Philon led the team with a season-high 21 points.
From that group, only Philon and guard Aden Holloway remain on the Alabama roster. Kentucky’s former Alabama forward Mouhamed Dioubate also made an impact in that game, contributing 13 points, team-highs of 8 rebounds, and 2 blocks.
