Actress Claudia Cardinale dies aged 87

Acclaimed Italian actress Claudia Cardinale, known for her iconic roles in some of the most celebrated European films of the 1960s and 1970s, has died at the age of 87, according to reports.
Cardinale starred in more than 100 films and made-for-television productions throughout her illustrious career. However, she was best known for embodying youthful purity in Federico Fellini’s classic 1963 film *8½*, in which she co-starred alongside Marcello Mastroianni.
In addition to this, Cardinale delivered a memorable performance in Sergio Leone’s 1968 epic *Once Upon a Time in the West*, sharing the screen with Charles Bronson and Henry Fonda.
The actress passed away in Nemours, France, surrounded by her children, her agent Laurent Savry told AFP. Her legacy continues to inspire generations of cinema lovers worldwide.
