1st in Southeast Asia: SEC launches ‘game-changing’ rules to attract ‘green’ capital

MANILA, Philippines — The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has launched Southeast Asia’s first Green Equity Guidelines, paving the way for Philippine companies with sustainable initiatives to attract more investors.
The corporate watchdog on Thursday released SEC Memorandum Circular No. 13, which provides eligibility guidelines for companies wishing to carry the Philippine Green Equity label.
Under these new guidelines, companies that demonstrate strong environmental, social, and governance (ESG) practices will have an opportunity to distinguish themselves in the market, encouraging responsible investment and promoting sustainable growth within the country.
