Oregon loses DL to Arkansas in transfer portal

The Oregon Ducks are gearing up for the upcoming season after a tough 56-22 loss to the Indiana Hoosiers in the College Football Playoff. Despite several players choosing to return for at least one more year, the team appears to be losing a defensive lineman to the Arkansas Razorbacks via the transfer portal.

According to reports from Matt Zenitz, Chris Hummer, and Cody Nagel of CBS Sports, Xadavien Sims is transferring to Arkansas. Sims played a backup role at Oregon, appearing in just four games over two seasons. He will enter his redshirt sophomore year as he begins his tenure with the Razorbacks.

“Arkansas has landed a commitment from Oregon defensive line transfer Xadavien Sims, his agency A&P Sports Agency tells me,” reported Chris Hummer and Cody Nagel. Standing at 6-foot-3 and weighing 305 pounds, Sims was a top-120 overall recruit in the Class of 2024.

This move could be a strong opportunity for Sims, as joining an SEC team like Arkansas may offer him a chance to play a more prominent role on the defensive front.

Meanwhile, Oregon retains most of its starting defensive line for next season. Interior defensive linemen Bear Alexander and A’Mauri Washington are set to return, along with edge rushers Matayo Uiagalelei and Teitum Tuioti. This continuity and experience in the front seven should provide a significant advantage for the Ducks during the 2026-27 campaign.

With several key defenders coming back, Oregon won’t feel pressured to fill immediate gaps. Instead, the program can focus on recruiting top-tier high school talent to support their starting defensive line next season.
