**Trump Says Ukraine, Backed by the European Union, Can Fight and Win Against Russia**

Former US President Donald Trump expressed confidence that Ukraine, supported by the European Union, is in a position to fight and win the ongoing war against Russia.

In a post on Truth Social on Tuesday, Trump wrote, “After getting to know and fully understand the Ukraine/Russia military and economic situation, and after seeing the economic trouble it is causing Russia, I think Ukraine, with the support of the European Union, is in a position to fight and WIN all of Ukraine back in its original form.”

The post followed Trump’s meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly.

### Trump’s Previous Stance on Ukraine-Russia Conflict

Previously, Trump had suggested that Ukraine might need to cede some of its territory to secure a peace deal with Russia. However, he grew frustrated with Russian President Vladimir Putin’s resistance to peace talks, according to CNN reports.

Trump criticized Russia’s prolonged military efforts, stating, “Russia has been fighting aimlessly for three and a half years—a war that should have taken a real military power less than a week to win. This is not distinguishing Russia. In fact, it is very much making them look like a paper tiger.”

He highlighted the struggles within Russia’s war economy, including long gasoline lines and extensive spending on the conflict, which is indirectly benefiting Ukraine. “Ukraine has great spirit and is only getting better,” Trump added, suggesting the country could potentially reclaim all its territory and possibly more.

He emphasized that “Putin and Russia are in big economic trouble, and this is the time for Ukraine to act.”

Trump also pledged to continue supplying weapons to NATO, noting that “NATO could do what they want with them.”

### Zelenskyy Comments on Meeting

Following the meeting with Trump, President Zelenskyy described their discussions at the UN General Assembly as positive.

Speaking to the Ukrainian public broadcaster Suspilne, Zelenskyy said, “Today’s meeting was very good. It’s too early to talk about any specific elements of the meeting, a little later.”

### Olena Zelenska Calls for Action to Return Ukrainian Children

At the UN event, Ukraine’s First Lady, Olena Zelenska, made an emotional appeal to the international community to increase efforts to bring back Ukrainian children who were taken to Russia since Moscow launched its unprovoked full-scale invasion in 2022.

She warned that, at the current pace, it could take 50 years for all the children taken to Russia to return home. Zelenska highlighted that through the efforts of an international coalition of 41 countries and the Council of Europe, 1,625 children have already been returned to Ukraine, CNN reported.

### European Commission President on Russia’s Provocations

Earlier in the day, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said she had discussed Russia’s “regular incursions” into European airspace with the US President.

“We discussed Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine,” von der Leyen said in a post on X (formerly Twitter). “We also addressed the Kremlin’s provocations, including regular incursions into European airspace. These incursions are clear attempts to test our response.”

She added, “Europe is speeding up its defense efforts to strengthen its Eastern flank. It must act as a shield for both Europe and NATO.”

This series of discussions and statements underscores the ongoing international focus on the Ukraine conflict and the efforts to support Ukraine in reclaiming its sovereignty amid Russian aggression.
