Tony Khan implies former 3-time WWE champion’s in-ring career could be over in AEW
Tony Khan has just given an update on a former WWE Superstar following his hiatus from AEW and his recent fight with health issues. He also spoke briefly about his future with the company. Ad Adam Cole has had a decorated career. He is known for his run in NXT, during which he became a Triple Crown Champion, and his work in both ROH and AEW. Unfortunately, at All In: Texas in July, Cole was suddenly pulled from his match after not being medically cleared for this. Later on the show, he would address his situation, hinting at potential retirement. Adam Cole was dealing with career-threatening concussion issues, which Tony Khan addressed during his appearance on the Ariel Helwani Show. He then claimed that the chances for Cole wrestling again seemed to be low, but he was looking to keep him as part of the AEW family in a new role. Ad Trending “I think it would have to be the right situation for Adam to wrestle again. I think it’s at least possible that we would keep Adam as part of the family, but I want to get to where he feels good about travelling and doing things every week again. I’ve been open with him that when he’s ready, there’s always a role in AEW for him. He had been a commentator at times, he’s been one of the hosts of the shows, he’s great for that.” Ad He continued by saying that nothing was set in stone, but with injuries of this sort, he wanted to exercise caution. Khan wanted this to be at a point where it would be completely safe enough for him to return to the ring. “He’s a great talent, he could be involved in a lot of things, and if he ever did want to wrestle again, and it was the right situation and everyone could wrap their heads around it, so to speak, I think that it could make a lot of sense. But, anything involving head injuries or serious injuries, I always want to look at it and evaluate, “Does this make sense?”, and is there an opportunity to do this safely where it’s gonna be a good outcome for everybody.” [2: 17: 02-2: 17: 50] Ad Ad Kyle O’Reilly recently talked about Adam Cole’s AEW future A few weeks ago, Kyle O’Reilly and Roderick Strong appeared on AEW Unrestricted and briefly talked about Adam Cole. They too were of the impression that he had competed in his last match as it stands, and they were thankful for the chance to share a great moment with him, and have a chance of a run together before this all went down. Ad “We just have so much love for each other. It’s unfortunate that it had to sort of not end the way it did, because nothing’s ever over. But it’s just such a sad and unfortunate circumstance that what happened at All In but. I’m really proud of Adam (Cole) for making that call and for being the stand-up guy that he is and for taking his health into account and for starting that process to getting well again, and it’s huge and just forever proud of him and grateful that we got to do that again together.” Ad WrestlePurists @WrestlePurists Kyle O’Reilly comments on Adam Cole having to step away from wrestling for the foreseeable future, says he is proud of Cole for taking his health into account: “We don’t know where Adam Cole’s at right now but, for the foreseeable future, that was his last match for the time Unfortunately, the Undisputed Era never got to reunite as a four-man band like in their WWE days, but it was great to see Adam Cole, Kyle O’Reilly, and Roderick Strong compete as a trio in AEW for one more run. One can hope they get another chance to do so in the future. × Feedback Why did you not like this content?
