Glendale neighborhood left without power after car crashes into utility pole
PHOENIX A Glendale neighborhood was left without power on Monday night after a car crashed into a utility pole, authorities said. According to the Glendale Police Department, officers responded to a two-vehicle crash near Peoria and 49th avenues around 6: 45 p. m. Police said that during the crash, one of the vehicle rolled over, caught fire and struck a light pole, which cut out power in the area. As of 9: 55 p. m., 35 homes were still without power and it wasn’t expected to be restored until 4: 45 a. m. According to Glendale police, occupants from both vehicles were taken to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Police identified the vehicles involved in the crash as a Mazda CX50 and Subaru WRX and noted it was the Mazda that rolled and caught fire. Speed and impairment do not appear to be a factor in the crash, according to police.
