Two top Maoists with bounty of Rs 80 lakh killed in Chhattisgarh encounter

Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced a significant victory against Naxalites in a recent post on X. He stated, “Today, our security forces have achieved another major victory against the Naxalites. In the Abujhmad region of Narayanpur along the Maharashtra-Chhattisgarh border, our forces eliminated two Central Committee Member Naxal leaders Katta Ramchandra Reddy and Kadri Satyanarayan.”
Amit Shah has reiterated on multiple occasions his commitment to eradicating Naxalism from the country by March 31 next year. The two deceased leaders have been identified as Raju Dada (also known as Katta Ramachandra Reddy, aged 63) and Kosa Dada (also known as Kadari Satyanarayana Reddy, aged 67), according to PTI reports.
Both were Central Committee members of the banned Communist Party of India (Maoist) and had been actively involved in insurgency operations for over three decades. The encounter took place in the forests of Abhujmaad, near the Maharashtra border. The operation was initiated following intelligence inputs regarding the movement of high-ranking Maoist cadres.
After hours of intermittent gunfire, security forces recovered the bodies of the two men along with an AK-47 rifle, INSAS rifle, barrel grenade launcher, explosives, Maoist literature, and other items.
Originating from Karimnagar in Telangana, both leaders were long-time operatives of the Dandakaranya Special Zonal Committee, which oversees Maoist activities in the Bastar region. They were implicated in several deadly attacks targeting both civilians and security forces.
Inspector General of Police Sundarraj P. commented on the success, stating that it reflects continued pressure on the banned group. He urged remaining Maoists to surrender and reintegrate into society by availing themselves of the government’s rehabilitation policy.
This latest operation brings the total number of Naxalites killed in Chhattisgarh this year to 249, with 220 of these deaths occurring in the Bastar division.
Earlier, on September 11, ten Naxalites—including a Central Committee Member (CCM) of the outlawed CPI (Maoist), Modem Balakrishna—were killed in an encounter in the state’s Gariaband district.
