MANILA, Philippines – Coach Goldwin Monteverde admitted that the University of the Philippines (UP) simply had no answer for University of Santo Tomas’ (UST) debuting foreign student-athlete Collins Akowe in Sunday’s 87-67 loss as UP opened their UAAP title defense.

Akowe asserted himself right from the beginning, dominating the game with an impressive performance. He finished with 29 points and 17 rebounds, leading the Growling Tigers to a commanding victory over the defending champions.
