This 1964 Alfa Romeo 2600 is one of only 2,255 Touring-bodied Spider convertibles built during four years of production. Initially produced for the Italian market, this rare example was delivered to a US military officer stationed in Belgium before being relocated to the United States in the 1970s. The car remained in the care of the original officer and one subsequent owner until it was acquired by the current owner’s husband in 1998.

Upon purchase, the car was relocated to California. Subsequent refurbishment included a repaint in silver and a refresh of the interior with striking blue leather upholstery complemented by color-coordinated wool carpeting. Between 2022 and 2024, comprehensive mechanical refurbishment was carried out by Epifani Restorations and Hasselgren Engineering of Berkeley, California.

The heart of the car is its 2,584cc DOHC inline-six engine, equipped with triple Weber 45 DCOE carburetors featuring velocity stacks. During the 2024 mechanical work, the five-speed manual gearbox received a revised gear set, the rear end was overhauled, and the four-wheel disc brakes were rebuilt. The braking system also saw a new master cylinder installed, and Koni shocks have been fitted to enhance handling.

This Tipo 106 2600 Spider rides on classic Borrani wire wheels shod with Pirelli Cinturato tires, including a spare stored beneath the trunk floor. Exterior features boast integrated driving lamps flanking the horizontal grille openings, a low-profile hood scoop, chrome bumpers, a driver-side mirror, stepped taillights, and a single exhaust outlet with a Borla muffler. The car is finished with a black soft top, and a removable hardtop will be included with the sale.

Inside, the cockpit has been thoughtfully refreshed to include a pair of low-back bucket seats and a rear bench reupholstered in blue leather, matched by blue wool carpeting that lines the floors and transmission tunnel. Additional details include a black dashpad, front seat belts, and a Blaupunkt push-button radio. The wood-rimmed Nardi steering wheel frames Veglia instrumentation, which features a 240-km/h speedometer, an 8,000 rpm tachometer, and gauges for coolant and oil temperature, oil pressure, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer currently shows 29,000 kilometers; however, the selling dealer notes that the mileage is not accurate and the true total is unknown.

The 2600 platform was introduced by Alfa Romeo in 1962 as their flagship range, offered in sedan, coupe, and convertible configurations. The Spider convertible featured elegant coachwork by Touring of Milan. Originally delivered in graphite and later repainted red, this example now wears its current silver finish as part of the refurbishment following the seller’s acquisition.

Accompanying this rare Alfa Romeo is a wealth of documentation and accessories, including Alfa Romeo documentation, service records, spare parts, a car cover, and a clean California title. Additional included items consist of an Alfa Romeo-branded sweater and tools, refurbishment records, manufacturer’s literature, historical documents, and car show awards.

This 1964 Alfa Romeo 2600 Spider represents a unique opportunity to own a beautifully restored classic with authentic provenance and meticulous mechanical work completed recently. It is offered on dealer consignment with no reserve, making it a truly exceptional find for collectors and enthusiasts alike.
